For many, our four-legged, friends are more than “pets,” they are family. As with any family member, they too deserve a day of celebration, dedicated to showing our love and gratitude for all they do.
“Dogs have both an outer and inner beauty, an ability to love and a spirit that connects with humans in a way that cannot be replicated by any other living thing,” said Colleen Paige, pet and family lifestyle expert and animal advocate.
National Dog Day is celebrated August 26th and was founded in 2004 by Colleen with a purpose of bringing attention to the plight of animals and encouraging adoption. RivCoParks will join the annual celebration and show support by honoring our furry companions and offering free admission for dogs on National Dog Day, Friday, August 26, 2016, at all regional parks where pets are permitted.
According to NationalDogDay.com, the day is meant to “celebrate all breeds, pure and mixed and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues.” To find out more on this National holiday and how to get involved, please visit NationalDogDay.com.
