FAQ's
Q: How do I join the Jurupa Valley Boxing Club?
The first step is to go to www.usaboxing.org and purchase a boxing license ($53). Then come to the gym to fill out an application. Monthly dues are $35 for adults (ages 18 and up) and $25 for children (ages 8-17) not funded by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Parents applying for a CDBG for their child must show proof of income.
Q: How are dues and other payments accepted?
Dues must be paid in cash or by check on or before the 5th of each month. We do not have an automatic payment program, nor do we accept credit or debit cards.
Q: Are there any boxing programs for children younger than eight?
No. It is not the policy of the USA Boxing organization to issue a license to anyone younger than eight years of age.
Q: Are boxing classes held regularly or do boxers work out on their own schedule?
The gym does not offer boxing classes. However, boxers do work with coaches who determine practice times.
Q: Am I (or is my child) required to fight in the amateur tournaments?
No. Any boxer can work out strictly at the gym or decide to attend tournaments on a case by case basis. Coaches will not schedule boxers to fight in tournaments unless they are deemed ready and agree to do so.
Q: What equipment is provided and what are boxers expected to furnish for themselves?
All equipment is provided except for hand wraps, which are required, and mouth guards, which are required if sparring. Boxers are more than welcome to bring in their own equipment if they wish because all the equipment we have is shared.
Q: How do I get to the Jurupa Valley Boxing Club?
From the 60 freeway, take the Rubidoux Blvd. exit south to Mission Blvd. and past the Mission Blvd. traffic signal. Make a right behind the Jimenez market and you will see our parking lot (we are on the west side of the market).
